INDUSTRY bell metal
INDUSTRY bell metal
- Any of the chemical elements that are usually shiny solids that conduct heat and can form on leaves are known as metals. The metal industry is mainly linked to the basic metals and fabricated metals. Initially, the metals extracted from minerals found in its natural, deep earth, and then these minerals are purified by a detailed procedure for metals in their pure form, these processes include metallurgy. Then the pure form of the metal thus obtained is used for the manufacture of structures and different machines and machine parts. Processes involving the production machinery and other valuable metals and obtained by metallurgical processes are metal.
This article attempts to show the workings of the traditional industry of the industry known as bell metal. This will help people who are interested ie on domestic industries.
Alloy
The alloys are formed by the mixturing two or more metals. Alloys composed of tiny crystals called grains. In each grain, the atoms are grouped in a particular geometric arrangement. Characteristic grain size in alloys. For example, the small grains become stronger alloys. The alloy first made by people Bronze Age. The oldest bronze is copper and arsenic was in 3500 in alloys BC.The also performed in the metal industry through proportional to the homogeneous mixture of two or more metallic elements (metals in pure form). The alloys are formed mainly manufactured to improve the properties of metals by combining all natural. Here we describe one of the most popular alloys and tin Copper and bronze useful. The oldest of the alloy known to man is a mixture of bronze copper and arsenic. The existence for 3500 BC Bronze. Gradually replace those arsenic to tin. The period of history between the Stone Age and age iron are known as the Bronze Age. The bronze was commonly used to launch containers such as vases and urns. People have axes, shields, swords, ornaments and other primitive ovens both bronze.
This was the period when people used bronze for tools and weapons. That followed the Stone Age when the stone was the raw material. When the iron tools were widely available, the age finishes and bronze Iron Age began.
The Bronze Age is a period of time. Some regions have seen the Bronze Age old, others had later. In some places it lasted a long time, and others, cut or omitted.
The first known use of bronze was in Sumer in Mesopotamia (now southern Iraq) around 3500 BC. The Chinese began using bronze Shang Dynasty (1766 BC to 1122 BC approximately). During this period, the use of bronze became widespread in North China. People continued to use bronze until sometime between 1500 and 1000 BC. After iron, which appeared first in Asia Minor, has become commonplace. The Bronze Age in most regions overlap in the Stone Age and a period of more iron before. Because people do not stop not using a material at a time. Some South American Indians began to use the wine before exploring white bronze. In summary, the oldest bronze, copper and arsenic. It was about 3500 BC. Over the next hundred years, people have discovered that tin mixed with copper bronze have been more useful.
People began to make tools, ornaments and weapons of that metal. This metal is much harder than pure copper and is easier to melt and cast into useful shapes.
For phosphorus for specialty metals, lead, zinc and other can be added in bronze. For example: Phosphorus hardens and strengthens the bronze medal. Due to the hardness of bronze reputation and sustainability, name was adopted commercially for copper alloys containing tin or not many, but are similar in color bronze. For example: Brass (55% Cu + 45% Zn), Zn is corrosive.
Tin, which is used to make bronze was an expensive metal. It has 600 per kg. so that the bell metal is also costly. Therefore, except for the bells and kitchen utensils. All other items made by Brass. Bronze is an alloy of copper and zinc. To summarize some of the bronze alloys were excellent bronze called correctly. Today brass is imported from India Moradabad UP. However, it is generally understood that when the word bronze is used by itself, the alloy contains a large amount of tin.
Bell Metal Industry
This is a traditional cottage industry. Bell metal workers belong to Moosari community. Moosari, blacksmith, goldsmith, carpenter and builder are the five groups called Viswakarma. Moosari done in bell metal and bronze casting. The main difference between these two works is that the bell metal products molds are not permanent, but in the current permanent bronze casting. Bell metal works 100% of manual work involved. No need for all types of machines. They make the tools themselves. (However, now very rarely imported from Andrapradesh). As this industry is in the department of trade and industry khadi and village. The main raw materials for this industry are clay, wax, castor oil, wood, coconut and coconut, cow dung and metals. The main metal used Industrial metal bell.
There is a famous definition of craft that is "not as two pieces." In the hands of skilled artisans or "moosaris" of Kerala, the process cast metal Bell has developed to its ultimate consequences, to produce a single casting weight ua ton. The perfection of casting technology and the composition of the alloy by an unbroken tradition in many countries has led to forms of various products ranging from bells cooling containers. The test bed for a rich visual language and style, a power shared by all traditions crafts of India.
Bell metal
Bell metal is an alloy of copper and tin in a ratio of 78: 22. This alloy particularly in a fixed proportion of 78% copper 99.9% pure tin and 22 was invented by the Germans. This metal is used for church bells. Because this alloy has special damping characteristics of the noise that these bells are a bit rich. Thus, this alloy has the name of bell metal. Today Brougham bell is used for making bells. But musical effect is not present in this type of bells.
Production Process
The fusion process is known as "varku" in Malayalam makes use of natural bees wax in a unique way. A layer of wax is wrapped around a clay core rigid. Full details of the intricate designs of the final product ANDS worked in wax by hand. The wax model is covered again in the clay and let dry. This three-layer mold is heated in an oven to remove the wax, leaving a space between the clay core and clay mold outside. Bell molten metal is poured into the mold and takes the form of wax. After cooling, a minimum of 24 hours, the clay core and break the outer mold. The allocation is then finished and polished chipping and presentation. This is done to the brightness of the boat.
The entire operation is the ability intense and made with simple tools. For the alloy of tin and copper recovered from scrap. All gradients in clay and wax is recycled while waste. The most important part of this work is the preparation of the mold. This mold is not readily available and not a machine made one. This is totally made by hand. Only the clay and the wax is used to prepare the molds.
Metal mold temperature and the liquid must be equal. This is generally 900c and 950 c [1] . The same temperature, the mold and the molten liquid to maintain the flow of fluid into the hollow part, without any obstacle. This is a highly skilled work. Only Knowledge workers used here. In short, a phenomenon crafts handmade 100%. Words, there are instruments to measure temperature.100% success is not expected in this type of molding process. Generally 20% damage or failure is expected. It is a loss about 20% of production takes place.
Properties and Uses
The height of bronze has a high percentage of tin and lead. Alloys with high tin content also have a low melting point. They are preferred complex castings for ornamental, like statues. When the brass is to be used for this purpose, lead is often added to the alloy. The result is a less expensive alloy that is easier to cut. Lead is also added to the bronze medal in the article must be manufactured lubricated. For example, the bearings are bronze with lead. Containing phosphor bronze and are used on steel better when not to use a lubricant. Because it is easily molded in large forms. It is used for making bells.
Most resistant alloys corrosion. Statues and bronze bells of a beautiful rich brown or develop a green patina (film) characteristic of copper. After the film so, bronze corrodes very slowly. Because these bronze objects often the last hundred years. The metal will generally not react with acids. Therefore, it is very healthy for the preparation of food in metal containers bell. This metal can not be welded. This is a heavy and fragile. If you m ay fell develop cracks or even break into pieces.
Examples of products Metal Bell
Bell metal is mainly used for the manufacture of bells and non-corrosive utensils. Bronze is used for different types of lamps and other public services and many decorative elements. Tin is an expensive metal. As the metal Bell is also costly. Thus, with the exception of hoods and other parts are manufactured by the bronze. Another problem with the bell of pure metal is that it is very brittle metal and glass. Today, the use of metal utensils in the small bell tower. Over 80% use a modern kitchen and modern techniques of cooking. So moosari community has also changed his job because some ships and other traditional as a goldsmith, a tailor, etc. At the same time, Moore are to take control of temples and churches exist. All workers are busy now to deepasthambham types, different lamps, large and small, prabhamandalam idols poojabells, Pooja arathy and many ships. These products are sold primarily through theaters and against the orders of customers. In the good old days of Kerala vessels made of this metal was considered as dowry. He was an asset
Aranmula mirror is one of the famous bell metal products. Manufacture of this mirror is a specialized work. First metal bell is organized as a flat surface or plane. Then stabilized polishing is done about it without holes. So that shines like a mirror. If the mirror falls, breaks into very small particles as dust particles. Mainly industry bell metal is in Kerala and West Bengal. In traditional cultures, many similarities are present among Kerala and Bengal. The industry knows the bell metal industry is a monopoly of Keralites, especially that of North moosaries Payyanore Malabar, Mannar and Alappey Nadavaramba of Trichur.
Another example of bell metal product is "vilakku Lakshmi." Secrets of manufacture of this lamp is in the hands of the lamp moosaries Payyanore. Thesis is considered the symbol of prosperity. This lamp reminds us of the days the gold brass bell. To "Lakshmi vilakku" was performed by pouring the mertal bell mold. Today is very popular in Northern industry Kerala. Now metal bell can not be considered a monopoly moosaries. Because many people in this community are bell metal work and moosaries that have changed their traditional work and is working on other ships.
Conclusion
Here we speak of bell metal. Its alloy with a high proportion of tin to copper is the material used for the manufacture of utensils and domestic ritual. Bell metal does not tarnish easily and sufficient to serve the dishes. Traditional boats of the plate or bowls are forged from the mass the anvil and steel equipment, heating and beating of metal at the same time. Large pots are formed and forged parts and seals or soldered with solder paste and polish. This article we saw the cottage industry of bell metal and its production as a whole.
