Why deep sea organisms are clustered around hydrothermal vents? What is your source of energy?
Why why deep-sea organisms are clustered around hydrothermal vents? What is your source of energy?
There are a multitude reasons. I'll take a stab at it. 1) Heat: In the depths that are the vents, the pressure is so great that water can get below zero degrees centigrade. The chemical processes occur more rapidly with temperature, so naturally, all biological processes require less energy. 2) Structure: In the vastness of the abyssal plain, a pillar of minerals is quite the place to hide. The same phenomenon can be observed on the reefs and kelp forests. Beyond the structure is the vacuum of the pelagic zone. Everyone in the crowd, and as the big fish eat small fish, so to speak, everyone happy. 3) Minerals: hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and all sorts of other things, is the spitting. It chemosynthetic (such as photosynthesis, but use chemicals instead of light) the bacteria that break down and use H2S this energy to complete a chain reaction that ends ultimately in the formation of a sugar. Are largely based on the food chain. There are a multitude of organisms that harbor these organisms in their intestines and are able to obtain energy through metabolic waste bacteria, and digest the bacteria themselves. Once again, the big fish eats the little fish .... large organizations not under movement H2S and eat and then go up.
